Neal founded Zapp Labs in 1985, and is the technical guru and "detail guy." Neal has always been interested in audio, and as a young musician became obsessed with optimizing sound quality on stage and in the studio. Production intrigued him because he quickly discovered what a difference the right equipment and "ears" could make to the listening experience. He developed and refined his technical and electronic skills in many varied live venues and recording studios in and around Colorado. During three years as line producer for the radio show E-Town (www.etown.org) and two years handling audio for video at The Garkie Group (www.garkie.com), Neal became very familiar with the specific challenges of spoken word audio. A freelance stint with CareerTrack led to partnership with Amy Atchison and Zapp Labs in its' present form. On January 26, 2002, Zapp Labs suffered a tremendous loss. Our fearless leader, Amy Atchison, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Amy set very high standards for Zapp Labs and we will be continuing with her vision. We wish to thank everyone for the wonderful expressions of love and support we have received. Special thanks to Amy for her contributions to our journey. Her kindness and caring made the world a better place. We miss her dearly.

Amy was Zapp Labs, Inc. "Director of Vision" as well as President. She cut her production teeth at Bear West Studios in San Francisco, CA. For eight years she played in bands, engineered music and produced jingles. After the earthquake of October 1989 destroyed her apartment, Amy made a fast and irrevocable decision to move somewhere without earthquakes. She relocated to Boulder, CO. to work for CareerTrack, a leading provider of corporate training seminars, video and audio tapes. As an award winning Chief Audio Engineer/Producer, Amy spent 4 years honing her spoken word engineering and production skills. Amy's expertise at interpreting client needs and conveying them to the staff and talent are still the driving forces today for Zapp Labs. Words of wisdom from Amy: "Pressure makes diamonds."
